Wind storm blows Jetstream over onto.... Tinker

WoW! Tinker just can't catch a break this year. In the water or out of the water larger boats seem to be attracted to my little blue Wilderness. That's the third collision this year and no one was even on the boat. Next year the racing goal for Tinker is complete accident avoidance with 0...

    YRA Marks Lat/Lon Coordinates

If you haven't seen this already, a very nice list of lat/lon for YRA marks was put together at: https://github.com/nkiesel/YRA-Marks/blob/master/San_Francisco.csv I took the list and generated a public google map with all of the marks. This can be copied and used to generate your own maps...

    Gribbs Info

Here are a couple more Gribbs for today in the morning and then 12 hours later. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the time stamp is GMT time and we have to subtract 8 hours.

Thanks to the Farallones Race Deck

What a great day to be out sailing on Saturday. Thanks to the race deck and all those at the SSS involved in making this race happen. I know it must have been frantic to pull off the last minute changes to the start. I did not make it very far out the gate (see the GPS track below) but had a...

    The Great Vallejo Race Prep

Great picture of the E-Patch on the bow. What a blast that was to Vallejo. Thanks for the offer of repair materials and all the moral support from the SSS forum & members. The support has encouraged me to get going again.

    The Great Vallejo Race Prep

It's been a busy week by the hoist at the Alameda Marina. I've had a lot of good advice from people hoisting their boats about fixing Tinker. I'm sure there are some boat builders that will look at my temporary fix and scoff but in my defense, it's only been 6 days and I'm better...

Faster Boats Colliding with Slower Boats

It doesn't really matter who is on the starboard tack and who was at fault when there is a collision because it's always bad for both boats. Because my boat is small and maneuverable, I've short tacked away from boats twice my size many times over many years to avoid collision regardless of...

Thanks to the Corinthian Race Deck

What a great day on the bay. Thanks to the Corinthian Yacht Club and especially all the volunteers on the race deck. Tinker's track around the course. Micro climates kept it blowing hard at Black Aller and calm winds on the back side of Angel Island. Makes for a challenging race. Even...

2013 Three Bridge Fiasco Finish Line Video on YouTube

I've posted the finish line videos online at: http://www.youtube.com/user/SSSWebDude?feature=watch The audio track helps to understand the difficulties with getting all the sail numbers as people cross the line. If you find any errors in the results, let the race committee know. Most of the...

Thanks to the Three Bridge Race Deck

Wow! What a great day to go sailing. Thanks to the race deck for all the hard work. I know it must have been frustrating with that broken radio. Here's my track around the bay. I was 20 min. late to the start because I got stuck in the flood and misjudged the time needed to get there. I...

I am looking to buy an old ST1000 or ST2000 that still works

My ST1000 has lost it's brain. The motor still works but it doesn't do anything automatically anymore. Singlehanded sailing is a whole lot more work without an auto-pilot. Does anyone have an old Raymarine ST1000 or ST2000 that is still in working order that they would like to sell?
