I am Bob Pierce. I recently acquired (green) boat Dancer with my boat partner Leszek Kotzian.

Question: In order to sail the Farallones race, is there to be an SSS inspection of our boat to confirm compliance with the SER, or do we just self certify? If someone at SSS inspects, how is that arranged?

Hi Bob P,

On the Jibeset entry page, there used to be a box to check that said the boat had been inspected. If it was, you were less likely to get called in by the RC for a post-race inspection (which really sucks after a long SHF Race). Perhaps someone here can confirm if inspections still work that way.

I know Dancer's pedigree and sailed her once with Dr. Packard. I've also done a lot of these inspections over the years. I'd be happy to do your inspection if you like. You can DM me here or contact me through RYC.

Bob J.
