That's a beautiful boat, Ants! Sounds like that is a good plan. Will there be a competition? Because surely there will be more than one boat on the water.

DRIFT will be on display on a trailer. There are two rowing events on the agenda, a race and a cruise. While racing would be a community event and far from being competitive, the cruise has appeal. The sticking point is can DRIFT be maneuvered from its display to the beach for launching, and then back to the display location. There is a hand dolly for the trailer. There is also a suitable beach next to the NWMC building, but lots of people on foot to help, or get in the way, TBD.

Synthia, Sally, and Norton Smith are currently cruising south along the west coast of Vancouver Island on CHEETAH, Norton's C&C 38. They are headed for Hot Springs Cove to hide out from oncoming Gale Force/out of season atmospheric river. Ants will see Synthia, Kris, and me admiring DRIFT at PTWBF, Sept. 5-7th

Paddling this morning up to Mitchell's Cove on calm seas, I noticed a distinct lack of small outboard fishing craft. Investigation at the launch ramp showed why: A recent sinkhole has compromised 75% of the launch ramp, leaving only a narrow launch lane on the south side. This is bad news indeed for the fishing fleet. And any trailersailers. Even if there were funds for repairs, it's a major setback for the Harbor which has just begun a 3 plus year seismic repair of the Murray St. Bridge, between the upper and lower Harbors. Local businesses are already closing. Tough times.

After overnighting at anchor in Drakes Bay Sunday, Leo and crew on TALLY HO sailed under the Golden Gate yesterday, Monday, 8/18, afternoon. Under full sail in 20 knots of wind, she was quite a sight. Thanks to Michael and Lisa for the inspiring video and below photo.

As soon as they were in the Bay they switched off their AIS, presumably to minimize gawkers and gain some privacy wherever they were aimed to tie up. Thank you for not mentioning location specifics on this blog.
