We've bandied this idea around the forum, off 'n on for years. The upshot is that if we wait until six weeks or a month before the event and then announce it, there will be conflicts and people can't come. The number of SSS'ers with small, cruisable boats is tiny..4-5-6 at most? Losing even one or two makes it a no-go.

So here's my proposal. We wait until the 2026 season is announced. We then pick a weekend that doesn't conflict with one of the races and announce it. It should be at least 3 months ahead of time, and four or five months is better. That means, April or May of 2026.
 
I think it's like sailboat racing - it only takes two. Even if towed. So don't rule 2025 out for everyone.

We could still tie it into a SSS Cruise-Out, which will probably happen this Fall. BTW, I'm back to looking at Petaluma after Glen Cove fizzed out due to shallow water.
 
With the Vallejo 1-2 on 10/4-10/5, I'm looking at 10/17-10/19 or 10/31-11/2 for Petaluma, mostly to time the high tides at the entrance to the Petaluma River from San Pablo Bay.

Small boats could consider using the ramp at Lakeville Landing and paddling or sailing the 5.5 nm up the Petaluma River to the turning basin. This would be a beautiful trip. You need to give four hour's notice to open the D Street Bridge (5' vertical clearance when closed). The big boats will need to do that anyway and maybe some coordination/towing could be arranged.

10/17 and weekend is Joans 50th HS reunion, and I'm obligated to attend as she's coming to mine! However, 10/31 to 11/2 would work, but no later than that as it starts getting too cold to spend the night under a ripstop boom cover! 11/2 is the day that daylight savings time changes over, so it'll get dark around 5:30-6:00. Alpha has lights but the daysailer doesn't (yet).
