Good turnout today, though a couple boats were missed. Reachy / reachy course after the first leg shift. Only took a couple photos.

    Lifeline question (and hello)

My toe rails rum from the mast to the bow but are a little undersize, about 5/8 inch tall as opposed the 3/4 inch spec. I plan to run a lower line between the pulpit and first stanchion. I could use that to run a weave or netting. I like a weave. Just enough to help contain a loose jib.

    New Sled 4 Daydreamer

Here's what I've been up to. When I picked her up I saw some potential work to be done. Some of the interior had delaminated from the hull interior. I peeled and cut away tabbing until I found solid bonding then re-taped and epoxied. Painted the interior up to the deck. My PHRF certificate...

    New Sled 4 Daydreamer

Maybe sled is a bit generous, but will be a fun fun ride either way! Found a 1995 Beiley B-25 at Lake Pleasant in Arizona. A trailerable 25 footer with a lifting keel, deck stepped mast and two bunks. Came with fractional and masthead symmetrical spinnakers, a Selden sprit with a masthead assym...

    New Boat 4 Sled

[Can anyone comment of the current disposition of SEA WISDOM, and what failed in her steering in the recent SHTP? There's an ongoing story there we haven't heard.] After we completed the repair in Hanalei Bay, Will sailed Sea Wisdom to Nawiliwili. He plans to return soon with crew to sail her...

    Stan Pawlak

We are deeply saddened to report the passing of Stan Pawlak, a sailor who was offshore preparing for the upcoming Singlehanded Transpacific Race to Hawaii this June.* Stan was found onboard but unresponsive by the Coast Guard on May 19th and evacuated by helicopter to a Bay area hospital where...

    Wilderness 21

Wilderness 21 Cheap Free? It's a project, needs sails, running rigging, general spiffing up. There are 6 winches. The traveller is at the companionway which opens the cockpit for single handing. New wheel bearings and tongue on trailer. I picked it up last year and haven't done anything with...

    2019 LongPac Reflections

Don't trust your brain to remember the proper co-ordinate to turn around. After a couple days of being seasick, every longitude looks like the turn around! Make a note! Write it in sharpie on the bulkhead! Get one of these stickers! Cause when you're 100 miles into the return trip and...

    Mushroom Anchor?

I have a small 20# mushroom with 50 feet of 3/8 braided line. Probably too light for DuraMater, but you’re welcome to try it. You can’t see the numbers on the scale, but it gives you an idea of how big it is. That’s what happens when I don’t put my glasses on to take pictures. DOH!!

    Patience pays.

    Surprise!

I've seen those numbers before, in an olden time before the apocalypse  But I don't know anybody who has any. There is a story about a crazy person in the desert somewhere with a mountain of the stuff, and a lighter.

    Seventy48

This isn't about sailing, rather a sailor without a sailboat doing something on the water. This last summer I started looking at the Seventy48 as something to do. Last August, my wife and I, sister and brother in law were out for a leisurely paddle on Lake Alpine when I sprung the idea on them...

Etriers, and getting back on board...

When you upgrade your old halyards, repurpose the line and build a couple rope ladders. Like this. Yes, they work, I got in the water and tried it. Tie them up with a piece of line with a slip knot and let the tail hang. Here is the instructional video I used...
