There was an SSS Board meeting on March 030712. It was held at Jan Brewer’s house, where she served a roasted chicken, crisp green beans, a Caesar salad and some nasty healthy stuff that Max Crittenden said he had eaten while sailing in New Zealand. In an effort to represent the SSS as a transparent and inclusive governing effort, here are the notes from that meeting. All feedback is welcome. The following topics were discussed:
1. a permanent SSS post office box somewhere in centrally located Alameda. The post office closest to the Oakland Yacht Club makes the most sense.
2. Handing off the Three Bridge Fiasco to an entity besides the SSS; this was dismissed for a number of reasons, some of which were:
• no one would take it,
• it brings buzz to sailing,
• the SSS is proud of the tradition,
• Bob Johnson is mistaken,
3. Charge more for single time races to make up for the t-shirt and trophy expenses
4. Charge for t-shirts since they are expensive and many are never collected
5. Charge single race participants for t-shirts
6. Cut all trophies in half ahead of time for doublehanded entrants, vs buying twice as many cheaper ones so no one feels left out or stigmatized or slighted in any way at all
