There were some professionals out there snapping yesterday with far better pictures I’m sure, but this will give you an idea of the start.

It was breeze on!

Here is the ostensible crash boat from the start of the race. Bob Johnston's Surprise!, just painted a new "oyster" white, was host to seven souls aboard, sailing to accompany the fleet out the gate. Bob said, "We'd better NOT crash it!" David Herrigel, moi, Ants Uiga, Bob Johnston and Dave Morris. Where is Greg Ashby? Up at the bow of the boat, didn't move fast enough for Jonathan Gutoff, the photographer.

Here are some boats exiting the gate. Which ones? I have no idea. It was windy and some of us (not Skipper Johnston nor the helmsman, Mr Hedgehog) were dodging waves up on the rail.
