2023 Round the Rocks courses may be different than 2022

I'm sure everyone knows to READ THE SAILING INSTRUCTIONS rather than assume a course is the same as prior years, but just an extra heads up that the course(s) may be different than last year.

For reference, here is last year's course 1, for the singlehanded boats:

We may chose not to sail this exact same course, but instead to find something similar-but-slightly-longer.

Nice idea BobJ, but that isn't labeled as a 18-20 NM course.

In my role with another OA, I might try to bring back the Silver Eagle race of ~20 years ago. Perhaps I should try out one of my draft Silver Eagle courses.
 
Sisters?

We just had International Women's Day, and it's Women's History Month.

For a course designed to go around a bunch of rocks, what about going slightly LONGER than 18-20 NM and sending people around "the sisters" as well as "the brothers"?

That could be a fun course.

Might be a problem for higher rated boats.
 
I'd think twice about the Sisters for several reasons. 1) The depth issue 2) The wind issue 3) The current issue. At lower tides deeper boats might have concerns. Their location is often "hidden" from the prevailing W/NW wind and with the sometimes strong currents found there navigation can be tricky. Especially singlehanded.
 
Once again... I'm going to put my input in... these SI's are getting more and more convoluted and confusing... with multiple amendments and various changes....
