Hello, SSS Racers
I wanted to say thank you for a good day yesterday on the race committee.
We had 49 boats leave the race yesterday, and 46 sent a text without prompting. One needed a reminder, one told me he forgot when I had to call him post-race, and the last one I had to call told me he sent his retirement to the wrong number. We need to keep getting better, but this is WONDERFUL compared to the last race.
I would like to highlight some sportsmanlike and courteous behavior some boats exhibited:
- Someone who inadvertently sailed the wrong way around the mark went back around the other way to correct. Then later that night they realized the "string rule" meant that they still had not met the definition of "sail the course," and they did the very honorable thing of retiring.
- Someone told the person trying to retire via radio to send a text.
And I would like to thank San Francisco YC for letting us use their committee boat and giving us a fabulous driver. If you see anyone from SFYC, please let them know how much that meant.
But again, thank you. It was a good day on RC, and after last month we needed that.
Richard
