Hello, SSS Racers!
I ve opened up registration for the 2025 Three Bridge Fiasco. Register now at https://jibeset.net/JACKY000.php?RG=T006291399 .
A few things I'd like to highlight:
* Same pricing as last year. Same crazy-fun race as always.
* If you are a monohull, please order your 2025 Northern California PHRF certificate now, at https://jibeset.net/YRA000.php?RG=T035469394 . We've asked the YRA to give racers a clear, guaranteed, order date for getting a certificate in time for Fiasco. To quote YRA's Friday Roundup: "Skippers who register on Jibeset.net by FRIDAY, JANUARY 3rd are guaranteed to have their 2025 certificate returned to them no later than FRIDAY JANUARY 17th." YRA says skippers ordering after that date may, but not are guaranteed, to get a certificate processed before Fiasco. I am told 100+ boats already have their 2025 certificates. Please reduce the stress for you, YRA, and us, by ordering your certificate now.
* I have broken up and restructured the SSS race documents, to make the race-specific documents shorter by moving most "boilerplate" into separate documents that will be re-used across all races. That does not mean I won't discover changes I need to make through the year, but my hope is you can just read the "boilerplate" once and then just check the revision in subsequent races to make sure nothing has changed.
* We are back to in-person meetings. See flyer on jibeset: Oakland YC, 1900 January 22, meet fellow racers, learn about the race, and perhaps win some swag.
* If you are done racing but would still like to be part of the racing community, please consider volunteering for race committee, at SSS or your local club. I could really use a deputy at SSS. Most clubs could use more regular volunteers.
* If you are ordering new sails this winter, please ask your sail maker to ensure they meet the rules of Appendix G, to help us and every other race committee. For example, dark blue or dark red sail numbers on a carbon-fiber main are extremely difficult to read, and make scoring you harder.
* Lastly, the SSS has its annual meeting, with season trophies, this Thursday, December 19, at Oakland YC, starting 1900.
I hope you all have a great holiday season, and a happy, prosperous 2025. Thank you very much for racing with SSS.
