84 already signed up. Race Information Officer, Chris Humann, is playing it smart and approving people quickly so he doesn't have to do 300+ racers at the last minute.

205 looksees on this thread and no strategizing yet? Seriously? Where's the trash talk? And why hasn't Outsider registered yet? I've raised my spinnaker 8 times already. I'm ready! Remember, the start line is restricted, the sun goes down @ 5:30pm and the Ebb is 3.6 knots at 1:30pm. Lots of potential for malfeasance.

Aw, you know we're too polite for trash talking on the forum. Best to leave that for the race course ;-)

At least we're all three racing singlehanded - you know, the way the SSS and God intended. Now K's in kind of a marshmallow division but DM has some competition and better bring the big kite and her big girl pants.

I have to beat three Wylie 39's and Dirk's new First 30. Since last year's winner flew a Code Zero for much of the course, I plan to bring mine. Dirk, you got one of those?

(How am I doing?)

Trash talk... who needs trash talk when there are so many BIG questions to ponder:

1. Will there be WIND, and if so from what direction and when?
2. We know there will be CURRENT...
3. Which way to go?
4. And in what order...

Good Luck, because we all need it!

Marshmallow division?!? Ha. Are you implying that my non-spinny competition is all fluff and no substance? You're just trying to stir something up, ain't ya? Not gonna bite, no siree, Bob

BTW, if anyone has not gotten their sailing fix on during TBF, the next day is the second annual Intergalactic Fubar. This is a social sail to Angel Island and potluck boat hop. We will gather around 1:00 in Raccoon Strait to attempt a short and silly regatta. Then food and drinks on the Angel Island docks or by raft up. Just show up or contact me if more info is needed. I think a flyer is going out on Friday.

Sounds interesting - with a name like that it could be the perfect 3BF after party.

If I hang the Ibuprofen drip from the boom I could show up for that. We'll see.

You rarely see three Wylie 39's together in any race let alone all singlehanded. Jonathan on Punk Dolphin is the Wylie to watch!

The deadline just passed. If everyone gets approved it's a new record - turn in that paperwork!

Did I miss something or maybe even imagined something?
During the 3BF skippers meeting in a room packed full of quasi attentive sailors, the question was asked about the start finish line restriction. I swear I heard the response that it was restricted only until after the last start (which would be 1030-ish). The race SIs simply state that the start finish line is restricted. Am I the only one that heard that?

You heard partly right - Allen said that he intended to change it to what you quoted but it didn't get changed, so it remains that the starting line is restricted throughout the race.

I made that change after we had a bunch of multihulls finish early in the windy 2013(?) race. They were coming towards the finish while we were still having lunch (it was that early) and we thought they were going to Blackaller. At the last minute we realized they were finishing. The other reason is that boats will cross the line to start, sail aways and then turn around and cross the line again to go the other direction. This is very confusing for the R/C.

If you think you may want to change directions after starting, start out near the pin so you can go out around it.

Results. Stories

Synthia. Finished at 4:30. On a Hawkfarm. Wow. Just that: Wow. That girl knows how to sail.

And, not to give gender preference, ONLY THREE other singlehanders finished: Andrew Z on Warpath (PHRF 99), Daniel A on Jetstream (63), and Dirk H on TIJD (99). Impressive. Singlehanded - did everybody notice that? Huh. This is the SSS. Congratulations. What a great job negotiating that bay on that day.

For those of you who like to plan ahead: January 30, 2016
