haulout - Berkeley Marine Center

It's been THREE...count 'em three years since I had the Wildcat on the hard, and it's more than time to get it done. So I motored up to Berkeley to spend the weekend getting dirty. No sooner did I pull in than I hear Ruben Gabrieli hollering "Hi, Alan"...and so it started. It's been really nice to catch up with Ruben. It's also nice to have his expertise...Ruben is the yard manager...to say "you can just fill and fair that, it's not a repair job"...or "Great job sanding, Alan. You can start work on Monday"

Since when do sailboats fly?

That's pre-sanding, where the bottom looks black, still. Incredibly, the paint was in good shape. There really was only growth on the bottom foot of the centerboard, but that DID have 20+ barnacles and a quarter-sized oyster. **sighing**

IT Dude gets dirty. Actually the vacuum-filtering system on the BMC's sanders keep you surprisingly clean.

That's a nicely-proportioned, good looking boat Alan.

Have fun with the Hydro-Coat.

Graham and Schlageter had the MORC rule squarely in their sights when they designed the S2 7.9.

As DIY haulouts go, that was downright pleasant.

Kudos to the people at Berkeley Marine Center. The lasses in the office were great, everyone that did something on the boat...travellift, outboard overhaul, was great. Ruben is Ruben...the man is the salt of the earth.

That was so pleasant, that I want to do another one!
