How do I change my byline?

Gamayun

Kynntana (Freedom 38)
I just noticed that under my screen name is "Ocean Circumnavigator." How do I change this? I have no idea how this came to be...and it's rather pompous. I've never circumnavigated in my life!

It could be worse. If you post enough on Pressure-Drop you go through a stage when your status is "Testes Dropping." Good luck w/that.

Thanks. I set it to "reset" to use the default title for your usergroup and post count (whatever that means). I'll pay more attention to how it changes. Maybe I'll be an SSS Global Master. This could be amusing as long as it doesn't suggest I have testes...

BTW, a huge APPRECIATION to everyone on SSS for being civilized (most of the time ;) no matter the gender or the sailing experience level or even when asking silly user profile questions. I have no tolerance for web forums with too many trolls.

Didn't it let you type a unique User Title in the box? Maybe I suggested the wrong spot.

Also, the Admin could change the default titles Alan set up. That could be fun.

(P.S. - Friends don't let friends post on Sailing Anarchy.)

I changed mine. Right under the Reset button there's a box you can type your custom slogan into. Reset takes you back to the default titles that Alan set up.

Yes, I did see the box, but didn't want to spend any more time trying to think of something pithy. "Kynntana" was too obvious. (I loathe being obviously predictable.)

"Desert Rat", good one! But you will always be "Mad Max" to me.

Saracen pig! Spartan dog! Take this! And this! Roman cow! Russian snake! Spanish fly! Anglo-Saxon Hun!

Seriously, guys? Who changed my byline?!

Better make that 200 posts then. Hope you can keep up with me!

The Admin changed the defaults - anyone without a custom user title now shows a range of posts as their title.

Time to use that custom setting and get creative!

(P.S. - It wasn't me.)

Alrightee, done!! Nobody can mess with my byline no more. (Even you, Admin...I'll be watching now.)

Well, someone changed mine...and it wasn't me!

Sorry about that, General. Inadvertently, I was the instigator of everyone's byline being changed who didn't already have one. Would you like me to tell you how to change it...?

That would be fine, Bob. Not that it makes a hill of beans diff.
I saw the instructions you gave someone else and couldn't get it to work. So maybe you could change mine to "retiree adventurer".

I would if I could but I'm not the forum's Admin. I'll bet he'll take care of it though.

P.S. - I'll be getting the wind instrument in the mail - probably the first of the week.

Here's the thing. If you go by Gayamun and post enough eventually some of us lurkers will figure out your boat name.

But maybe not. And maybe someone doing the same kind of race prep wants to find you....

I'd prefer folks names were obvious.
