Saw this today. I've never been a big fan of the snap hook release due to all the bits and pieces involved - springs and pistons and split rings... Here's another approach. I think this would want some real world testing but it looks interesting. I could see the release ribbon getting snagged on stuff but it does look like a reliable high load release with pretty minimal mechanical points of failure. The Kong hooks on the boat end are things of beauty but have to be routinely checked and maintained. I have Kongs on my current tethers.
