International Folkboat For Sale

Two boat owner...Priced to sell...
1969 International Folkboat Hull #12 "Reliance":

Check out Practical Sailor Magazine Jan 2011 edition for a complete review of an International Folkboat!

HISTORY
The International Folkboat's seaworthy design and excellent sailing characteristics make it a perfect boat for protected Bay waters or Blue water cruising. Reliance is in sail away condition but is in need of some interior and exterior finish work down the way. The boat has spent her life here in the SF Bay Area and was raced successfully for a few years in the early 90's. In fact, she was sailed in the 1994 SHTP by Reed Overshiner in 14 days...18 hours. The return trip took 32 days. Prior to leaving for that trip to Hawaii in 1994 the boat was completely refitted with safety and hull integrity in mind. Some of the modifications included: foam/glass longitudinal stringers were glassed into the interior of the boat to prevent oil canning in heavy seas...resulting in a much stiffer boat than a stock International Folkboat. The forward v-berth area was also glassed in creating a watertight bulkhead that would keep the boat from sinking in the event of a holing forward. The boat is also equipped with a custom aluminum boom (much stronger than the stock IF booms) and stern pulpit.

CONDITION:
Reliance is in good shape considering it was built in 1969. The hull is structurally sound and a new rudder was built for the boat in 1994. She is equipped with a Nissan 3.5hp 2 stroke outboard for propulsion. The boat was given a brand new bottom job in July 2010 along with an attractive Flag Blue Hull painting. Structurally the decks and hull are sound. Here are some other things that come with the boat:

*Brand New Bottom Job July 2010
*Brand New Topsides paint July 2010
*Pineapple Mainsail w/ two reefs in great condition
*Working Jib in good condition
*120% Jib in good condition
*Pineapple spinnaker in good condition
*Spinnaker Pole
*Rule Aqua Meter Compass
*New Tiller w/ Battlestick Tiller Extension
*New Garhauer Stanchions (Not yet installed)
*Danforth Anchor w/ appropriate chain/rode
*LED Tricolor & Strobe
*All lines led aft for Singlehanded sailing.

Here are some things the boat could use:
*Although the hull was painted during our recent haul out: she could use the house and deck repainted down the way.
*The interior needs to be finished off. One of the advantages of the current bare bones interior is it allows for the next owner to customize the interior to their liking. And once the interior is finished off...you will have an extremely solid and comfortable International Folkboat.
*Although the standing rigging was replaced 4 years ago...If I were to keep Reliance I would replace the standing rigging just for peace of mind.
*Running rigging is functional but could use replacing down the way.
