Multi-page thread navigation

Dear Bryan
Is there some way to add a button to threads so the viewer doesn't have to scroll through page after page in order to reach the most current post?

Thanks, Jackie

@Philpott - there are a couple ways to do this already.

(Magenta) If you have unread replies in a discussion you should have a link on the upper right which will jump to those new replies.

(Green) If you have already read the entire thread, the last page number on the upper left will take you to the last page.

Hi, I don't care about replies, really. People are going to read it or not. Rarely do people respond, except privately by email or when passing at the club.
I think it requires too much patience to scroll down scroll down scroll down. They know what I write about. They know what Skip writes about. Is there a way to put a "jump to new" magenta button at the top of the (for example) What I Saw thread? Is it called a thread? And actually I don't see a magenta button anywhere. Thanks

Jackie, what you're asking for already exists and is functional.

The colors in my reply above were meant to direct attention to the highlighting and arrows in the attached image. The colors will not appear on the forum pages.

Yes, each topic in a forum is commonly referred to as a thread or discussion. Every reply to a thread/discussion is called a reply, whether the original thread author wrote it or not.

"Jump to new" is a dynamic link for your user only. It will only show up if you have unread replies in a thread/discussion.

The page number links will always show up and the highest page number listed will navigate to the last page of the thread, just as you are asking.

Hope this helps.

So let me get this straight.
I go to the Forum and scroll down past the "Ahoy" welcome to Singlehanded Sailing Society
I click on 3BF photos and scroll down past the "Ahoy" welcome. Again.
I scroll down and I have to scroll down past Larry's photos, which I've already seen. They are always wonderful, but I'm hoping to see different ones.
I scroll down and see my photos. Then Bob's photos.
Then Jonathan's photo.

Them's a lot of photos, and a lot of scrolling past photos I've already seen. Is there any way that a button can be provided at the top of the thread/discussion that would enable someone (like me) to get to the most recently posted photos or discussion? A somewhat more "dynamic" link; a Magic Button?
Thanks, Jackie

When you get to the thread title, i.e. What I Saw, don't click the title, rather the date on the right side of the title bar.
That will take you to the beginning of the last post on the thread.

Hope that helps.

Thanks @Daydreamer! Great suggestion

@Philpott - there are many ways to get to the end of the thread. I didn't realize you were looking at a thread with a single page of replies. You can also press your "end" key if you're on a computer to scroll to the bottom of the page (this is a function of your computer/browser and not of the forum software).

There are magic links (maybe not buttons). The date link suggestion Greg made is an example. Read above about the dynamic "Jump to New" link. Although, that only shows up when there are replies you haven't read yet.

I click on 3BF photos and scroll down past the "Ahoy" welcome. Again.
To help with this: I just updated the Ahoy notice to be dismissible. You can click on the "X" in the upper right corner and it will stay gone the next time you load the forums.

The rest of the experience you explained sounds like normal "reading the forum" activity. Scrolling down a page is part of the game ;)

For those of us computer troglodytes: Note that, on a Windows-based computer or laptop, you must hold down the FN button when you click on the End button. The end button sometimes reads END, sometimes just has an arrow pointing down.

Thanks, Bryan.
