Nightmare is Available

Daydreamer

SAILOR
I said I was going to do it, so here it is.
I've enjoyed racing, learning, and fixing up this boat.
My intent was to compete in the Singlehanded Transpac, have an amazing adventure, and hopefully do well in the race.
I have been blessed with that in spades!!

The SSS members and racers I've become acquainted with are first class!
Somehow, the sale of Nightmare won't be the end of me sailing and racing with you all.

If I have my druthers I'll find something sporty, trailerable, with room for two and affordable, i.e. cheap ;)

Here is the copy from the Craigslist add.

Just so you know.
I started doing sound reinforcement for a local swing band that is starting to take up some weekends.

I'll continue to race and sail Nightmare as I can, and keep her maintained.
Though I would like to keep her, I don't want to work as hard as I have been in order to do so.
I can't fully explain the bond I have with this boat, those who have done the SHTP might be able to, or at least understand.
She took good care of me to Kauai and back.

Maybe she'll inspire another Buglighter hopeful.

Are you interested in an amazing drysailed J24 with 3 full sets of sails? Irish Blessing has been in our family since 1984 in Lake Washington, Seattle, until I brought her to Alameda 4 years ago and dry sail her. Glen keeps her rigging in great shape, her mast is 6 years old now.
If interested I can show you everything, plus cash for the difference.
Only issue with her is not a transpacific boat.

Looks like a fun boat Chad, and you hustle her along nicely.
Is the mast keel or deck stepped?
Do you ever un-step the mast and travel? What does it entail?
My old O'day was pretty simple deck stepped rig.

J/24s have keel stepped masts, it requires a overhead hoist to unstep. Experts have done it with a gin pole. She lives on a very roadworthy trailer. I put Irish Blessing on her trailer in Seattle and pulled her home. They are easy to single point lift with a hoist.

Sold.

I'm a bit sad.

Greg,

I understand the mixed feelings of sadness and relief on selling a boat. Please share more on the buyer and their intentions. Too good a boat not to follow in your footsteps.

You are always welcome on my boat for a day sail or a DH race.

Tom
