Raymarine Tacktick

Hi,

As I am finally getting around to install this device I wanted to share some experiences:

-Mine was too long in the box and I had to re-pair it. That only worked after charging display and anemometer in the sun and after I put the anemometer UPRIGHT ON TOP of the display for pairing. I leaned the hard way that the one change that Raymarine did after buying TackTick was to focus the anemometer antenna downwards. Makes sense, right? Took me a week to figure this out.

- I bought a new battery. Amazon sells them for $16, Raymarine for $80. The Amazon battery I bought looked the part but did not work. Fortunately I found that my original battery still works (see above).

- There are some good youtube videos on how to take the anemometer apart. Like this one:
. The screws are under the sticker. You need a Torx T6 screwdriver, then to take the lid off a small flat screwdriver and strong thumbs to push on the solar panel covers.

Cheers
