Rod Parks, first to finish the 1980 race, dies

Commodore of Richmond Yacht Club in 1972, Rod found that the sea allowed him to develop a peaceful relationship with the world.

He competed in 13 CA to Hawaii races. His final transpacific race was the 1996 Pacific Cup, sailed with his son Malcom.

His life will be celebrated on October 11 in Berkeley.
