SHTP 2018 Meet and Greet BBQ 5pm 6/17 Oakland Marinas - Embarcadero in Oakland

Santana 22- N/M 45
Greetings All,

Hello to all past SHTP racers and supporters of the 2018 SHTP racers. There will be an informal pot luck BBQ at Oakland Marinas, their location nearest Motel6 on the Embarcadero in Oakland, Sunday evening starting at 5pm. Directions and
info below. Bring something to drink and eat and perhaps a little to share. SSS will track down BBQ tools, and eating
utensils. All supporters are welcome, and we'd especially love for past racers to join us.

Directions:

From the Berkeley area, take 880 south to Exit 40 (Embarcadero/16th Street), turn left on the Embarcadero, just past
Motel 6 (on the right) is street parking in front of the marina. The gate is behind the grey and blue, two-story harbor
building next to the Motel 6 parking lot.

From San Leandro on 880 heading north, exit 39b (23rd Avenue). Continue straight on 23rd and turn left at the light
onto 12th. Next light, turn left on 16th Ave. Turn left onto Embarcadero and the parking is immediately on the right.

From Alameda, take Park Street and turn left on Ford Street just after the bridge, then right on 23rd. At the next
light, turn left on 7th, which turns into the Embarcadero. The marina will be on the left, just under a mile away.

A precaution....please don't leave any valuables in the vehicles as they do have a smash and grab problem along the
Embarcadero though it's usually later in the night.

Thanks for organizing the BBQ and bringing so much food. It was nice to meet everyone. I had a great time and felt part of something special.

Phillippe, so glad you could make it. You ARE a part of something special. How many lunatics propel themselves solo in what basically amounts to a plastic box not much bigger than themselves, gliding across a few thousand miles of open water, tens of thousands of feet deep, from temperate San Francisco to the tropical Hawaiian islands while trying to best a few other such lunatics? The answer this year? 19. Welcome to the buglight for weirdos with boats. Wear your affiliation proudly, as you are soon to be among these elite accomplished singlehanders. ;)
