SHTP Cruise-In to Richmond YC - May 31, 2014

Philpott

Cal 2-27 Dura Mater
Bring your boat, come look at boats. We'll post a list of boats coming as sailors let us know. Dave Morris (Transpac 2012, Moonshadow) will go over grib files etc so people can practice on their own boats.

The Cruise In has been rescheduled to May 31 at Richmond YC due to a conflict with the Single Handed Farallone's race. Boat arrival time is no sooner than 12 noon due to the departure of the Delta Ditch boats in the morning. Hope to see you there.

Is this only for Transpac boats? If someone wanted to sail over, say in a 27' boat from Berkeley, would there be room?

Let's do the Singlehanded Ditch! We can meet at the Stockton Sailing Club and look at broken boats.

Don't presume on John D - he's none too pleased with all the changing dates, and all he has to say is "No."

NOON? Since WHEN does the Ditch Run start that late?

Watch this space for updates!

It took me two phone calls and a short meeting with John, and Jim Q was also present, to sell the May 31 date. Noon was my idea, otherwise we would not get the date as John had the harbor filled with Ditch runners and did nt want to deal with ins and outs. The Club will be very full with boats and trailers. Realistically who would be there before noon anyway ? The wind doesn't even come up until 1 pm behind Angel Island.

Date changes were caused by the DHF conflict.

Egad, the world is askew!

Delta Ditch Run in MAY? Vallejo Opener in APRIL?

Thank you, Brian, for making the switch!

Does anyone have a general idea of the agenda content and timing for the weekend?

Cruise Agenda:

End ties will be available after noon.

2:00 pm we have two guest speakers.

The reasons for doing the SHTP as well as experience with the conditions. Jim Quanci 2012 overall winner.

Sail/Spinnaker handling - special techniques to control your boat in the big winds and following seas of a crossing to Hawaii - interactive. Mike Jefferson.

Likely this will wind up around 4 30 pm.

A potluck is suggested for the event, so bring something along.

Not just end ties ....
Harbormaster Dinwiddie is coordinating space in the Turning Basin and End Ties in the Yacht Club harbor for our fleet of:

Galaxsea, Nauticat 44
Mouton Noir, Garcia 47
Frolic, Islander 36
Lightspeed, Wylie 39*
Maris, Dana 24

Olson30's, Express 27's, are staying dry, but there are other trans-Pacific vets in the harbor.

Around 2PM, we'll have the panel discussion.

Pot Luck: if you want to participate, bring a favorite dish...
