Not being a Facebooker myself, I had no clue that our revered Commodore Emeritus "Mad Max" Crittenden had been running this page for years. Thanks Max!

I've rigged the main SSS (b)log feed and the SHTP news updates to they auto post to FB. Hopefully it will work and help spread the word a bit more.

My 15-year-old daughter assures me that no one under 25 uses Facebook seriously, so I guess we may also need to get Snapchat going too.

Instagram, twitter, google+, pinterest, and on and on Then there are the video sites! Given the amount of news the SSS generates (where's that 'sarc' emoji?!) and the number of users on FB in general, I think we'd just drive someone crazy trying to post to all the social sites out there. That said, if there is news that is SSS appropriate, we should send it to Max so he has things to post. It's not easy being the social man of the hour all the time...

I saw a funny breakdown of social media it went something like

Facebook - stay in touch with the folks and classmates
LinkedIn - careerism
Instagram - post pics in hopes of making others jealous of your lifestyle
twitter - self-promotion, celebrity bitchfights
Pintrest - moms, crafts
tumblr - an ecclectic mix of SJWs, pop culture fans, and porn
Snapchat - selfie-town


Clearly, the SSS Forum is the best social media on all the Interwebs

• no censorship ever
• no ban stick
• no spying or collecting private data to sell to 3rd parties
• mostly about sailing
• sometimes post attachments work
• people act nice most of the time, and not because anyone is forcing them to
• almost no bullying except mild taunts about cruisers

Oh yeah, no pay-to-play here at the SSS.

I've learned now as a page admin that if you want you page updates to really reach people with priority, then you need to cough up the lucre.

One more benefit. The SSS Forum Board does now kow-tow or censor posts or report users political activity, unlike Facebook has done on behalf of Syria, China, Germany etc. Really, Facebook is horrible.
