SSS sailors in the Pac Cup this year 2014

Of course the teasing is all in good fun. Look at all the 2014 Pac Cup sailors who race regularly with us: John MacDonald is doublehanding his Moore 24. Bob Johnston is doublehanding Ragtime! Reuben is the only non professional on Invisible Hand. Mary Lovely and her husband are doublehanding Green Buffalo. Rick is leaving Racer X behind in Mary's capable hands. Who else? Pac Cup has its own impressive website. My understanding is that every Pac Cup event costs money, unlike the free seminars organized by the SSS @ the Oakland Yacht Club and attended by a number of Pac Cup participants. Pac Cup has, as Bob has pointed out, a BMW concierge service located at Richmond Yacht Club. SSS has Dave on Calypso. I don't know that any of the SSS TransPac boats have sponsors this year. The comparisons are made for jocularity, not snarkilarity. No need for defensiveness on the part of participants in either race. It is what it is.

Mary Lovely has a husband?

Rick Elkins did PacCup 2012 and is kicking ass in this years SHTP.

It's true about the seminars and parties costing money for PacCup. They run at a slight profit, but I guess have much greater expenses.

Yo! After our race was over that was probably the best 900+ nm of sailing I've ever had. We pushed the boat as hard as we could and Rags loved it. Heroes were "X" the Raymarine X-5 A/P who steered flawlessly when called upon, and "Z" the Code Zero who got used way too much in way too much wind and finally tore in a massive squall before I could get it rolled up. This year Pacific Cup was a reaching race - most bizarre.

We'll deliver the boat to Keehi Marine tomorrow for haul out and prep - it should be a great 38 mile sail around Oahu.

More when I come up for air. Missing all of you. Bob and Rags
