SSS Sportsboat Definition

RC was recently asked about out Sportsboat definition. Below is our stated policy listed in our website under Racing.

Per the season NOR, sportboats are monohulls with displacement‐to‐length ratio of ≤ 112 per the formula: DWL = D/(2.24x(LWL*10)^3) and LWL is ≤ 32′ where D is displacement in pounds and LWL is waterline length in feet. The DWL number is found on your PHRF certificate for your convenience.

We are different from others with a 32 foot limit. I must admit racing Lightspeed a non Sportsboat, I came late to the party on the 32 foot limit. This might be a good place review our Sportsboat history...Comments welcome....RC is here to serve the membership...Rick.

I don't see a Classe 40 or Open 50 as a 'sportboat' even if they are ULDB. After all, they will will be in such a fast rating band that if we get any they can have their own class/start.
