Stolen A3 Asym, never used, theft of 3BF victory

Hi,

If anyone runs into a great deal on an A3 spinnaker with a 42' hoist, unused, in the box, with a bag, it was appropriated either from a UPS truck or my front door, please let me know. It has "28340" across the face of the sail. I was planning to beat "Rags", and "Taz" with it this weekend.

Brian

It will reappear after the race. (Kidding - that sucks!)

I have an A1.5 you can borrow:

Luff 44.8
Leech 37.6
Foot 28.7
AMG 24.5
871 s/ft
81 s/m

It's pretty light but so is the forecast.

Pretty funny comment, got a chuckle. Thanks for the offer, but I will wait for the 2 nd iteration of this sail to arrive. Off to strugle with UPS.

That's awful. So sorry! It happens alot in my Oakland neighborhood, but in YOUR neighborhood? Where are those guard sheep when you need 'em?

Sadly I don't have anything of value delivered to my doorstep anymore. Everything goes to my office where it is delivered safely to the front desk. Sucks it has come to this.

sadly as well, I had asked the vendor to have UPS put hold at their delivery center, and an additional insult I also asked UPS to hold it at their delivery center when they tried delivering the first time. Works great with USPS and FedEx. Oh well.

colors are pretty monochrome. White with red numbers, 28340. Also large luff arrows showing which way to point the bow.

I no longer (happily) have an office so don't have that option for UPS deliveries anymore.
UPS has a free service called My Choice. It allows package tracking, an email from them the day before an item is to be delivered giving a delivery time window, and another email within minutes after delivery. Most importantly it gives the option of re-directing the delivery to a UPS Store, or other location. I've been happy useing My Choice for the last few years.

Apply for a ratings adjustment? (and that sucks! probably those who stole it really have no idea what it is)

There are two homes under construction a few lots away. I will check out what they are using to cover the roof when the rains fire up again.

Does Laura add 3 points to your rating if your unused sail was stolen ?

Laura "just" administrates. PHRF Comm does the rating. The process is setup for ratings for different configurations (light vs heavy wind, OD vs PHRF, etc). Once they are defined/paid for- its fast and cheap to switch ratings between configs which is just administrative work. 3bf in the middle of a OD series would be a good example of why you would do it. probably all just FYI now, You might petition RC if important.

You can have it back - it didn't help. Sorry about the root beer and chocolate stains.

Update: BobJ apparently has contacts in China that the new Administration may want to avail themselves of. Bob succeeded in delaying the delivery of this new asym. until after the 3BF, as predicted. UPS has lost a package, but not the sail's package. The manufacturer traced the shipment and found the sail had never left their facility. Now to go figure what UPS lost.

Recently ordered a telescoping ladder from Amazon...My card was debited and I was assured ladder was shipped, even given a (bogus) tracking number by the (bogus) Chinese "manufacturer." Ladder never arrived, though "manufacturer" claimed it had (see below).

"Hi,there is something wrong with the tracking number system of post office,if you can wait one more week? We can refund you if you still not received it by then."

Amazon investigated and found their "sanctioned" company had disappeared. After a month of back and forths, Amazon refunded. Apparently the newest scam: order something from Amazon that is built in China by a fraudulent company that changes its name every couple of weeks.

Here's how "gaming Amazon marketplace" works: http://www.forbes.com/sites/wadeshe...sellers-run-amok-and-profit-big/#7564b90c1eeb
