This to update the SSS community on efforts to reschedule the Round the Rocks and Singlehanded Farallones races.
Our current plan is to run the re-scheduled SH Farallones on Saturday June 13. We have submitted draft SIs and we are awaiting approval from the USCG. Both the RC and individual skippers are expected to exercise responsible social distancing practices, but other than requiring racers to record their own finish times as a back-up, we do not anticipate any substantial COVID-related changes to the race format. Ahead of the race, we are also planning a Zoom-based virtual Skippers' Meeting on Wednesday June 10th, details to come.
For the RTR, we are targeting a date in July (TBD) to re-schedule the race. We are still working out how to insure proper social distancing for the RC, where challenges include a boat-based start and a finish on the tiny RYC race deck. There will likely be some changes to the standard race format, but we strive to minimally perturb the race experience for skippers and crew.
Fingers crossed, we will get to re-start the season in a couple of weeks time. We will keep you posted on the status of the CG approval of the SH Farallones race.
Stay Sane - Tom
