In the morning on Saturday, Jan 18th, I paddled out from the Emeryville Marina Kayak launch to survey the Three Bridge Fiasco race course. I could see all the way around the course from the Golden Gate Bridge to Red Rock to The Bay Bridge Eastern Span. There was no wind and very little wind later in the day.
In between storm fronts has been great for flat water kayaking on the bay but not so good keeping the sails full. Maybe this upcoming 2020 Fiasco will get a little bit of wind in front of the approaching storm front. I'm prepping to get wet and bringing the battery powered running lights for a potential after sunset finish.
I've got a video of the pre-race survey posted on Google if anyone is interested: https://photos.app.goo.gl/xwVanxX8y6nHbD3Y7
Watching the Saildrone weather forecast closely for changes: https://forecast.saildrone.com/?lat=37.812&lng=-122.435&z=12&l=none
Good luck to everyone on Saturday.
Cheers,
Matt
