Ahoy fellow SSS'ers!
Wanted to extend an invitation out to the annual Westsail Rendezvous coming up Oct 4th-6th.
Our event is a gathering of past and present Westsail owners, potential Westsail owners and cruising folks interested in the unique heritage & history of Westsail boats. We generally have about 10-15 boats show up. Also this year, Westsail guru/SHTP vet Dave King will be one of the speakers on Saturday night. More details below.

Cheers,
Randy

Morning (time TBD) – Breakfast at the yacht club will be a Hot Buffet. I will need a head count so our chefs can plan ahead.
We also want to plan the Westsail Bay Cruise and possible cruise to Half Moon Bay (weather permitting) for the week following. A free permit is required for the Aquatic Park Cove so call 415-859-6807 a couple weeks in advance. http://www.nps.gov/safr/planyourvisit/aquaticparkcove.htm
Other mid-week destinations can include Sausalito, Angel Island, and other bay anchorages and attractions.
Boats head home or start the 2013 Cruise the SF Bay – as time and tide allows.

Coming and Going…
If by sea:
San Leandro Channel: The approach is pretty straightforward but remember: YOU MUST STAY INSIDE THE CHANNEL MARKERS. Unless you want to hang out in the mud until the next tidal change. The marina entrance is at 37 40.30 Lat, 122 13.29 Long. After entering the marina area, turn left into the marina itself. We will try to monitor VHF 16 and 916 802 6963.
At low mean tide (0.0 ft.) the marina has about 2.5 to 3 feet in the shallowest area by the fuel dock Consult local tide information for the exact time and depth. In 2010, I noticed that the fuel dock area is quite shallow at low tides.
If by land:
Exit the 880 Freeway at Marina Blvd. Exit west. Continue on Marina Blvd. and bear left at the Y going into the marina. Turn right on Mulford Point Drive for the San Leandro Yacht Club, which is the first building on the left. Look for the Westsail flags flying on the boats. There are gates at the docks, so call the host owner or wave us down and someone will let you in. For out-of-towners, the Oakland Airport is very close.

The more boats, owners/crews and wanabees the better!

A westsail 32 arrived @ the Berkeley Yacht club dock this afternoon, to stay a few days, then off to S AMerica. The captain sounded Dutch or German. What a gorgeous boat,
