What was the "Stand-Down Marathon" back in 2011

I just read the thread and saw a photo thread on PD. Looks like....

Start - Cityfront??? Huh? the video was "unclear".
Mile Rock
back under the Bay Bridge, turn right.
......Next Stop for Beer, Coyote Point. Or Redwood City?

Is that right? Could this be resurrected?

I hope not. It's what we had to do when the CG wouldn't let us race to the Farallones (after Low Speed Chase cut the corner too close). It was in May (2012), then we were able to run the SH Farallones in August.

But no worries if you want to "race" to Redwood City - Jackie has the next SSS Cruise Out/In - Sail Up/Down scheduled for late August:

Alan, you don't even have to start at McCovey Cove. You can wait until we are all passing by then jump out and surprise us!

I found a few minutes to dig up the SI for the Stand Down Marathon. The course was:
Start at GGYC
Pt. Bonita buoy to port (USCG's limit for permits during the stand down)
R "10" (next to the San Mateo bridge) to port
Finish at GGYC - 44 miles

Actually, that's a pretty cool course. It's not the same as the Farallones, but it's a cool course. I'd do that!

Didn't the Silver Eagle of old go from the San Mateo Bridge to the Richmond San Rafael Bridge and cover something like 75 miles?

Except for the last leg, that was my Farallones race this year. GGYC to Pt. Bonita, float in circles for a couple of hours, then throw in the towel and head all the way home to Coyote Point.
