Max, Though imperfect, there are alternate means to visit the Channel Islands available. Ferries (Catalina Express) run from San Pedro, Long Beach, and Dana Point to Catalina with connections to Two Harbors (Isthmus) where there is camping overlooking the Cove, and rooms available at the hotel mansion at Two Harbors, the Banning House Lodge, a historic Craftsman-style bed and breakfast. It was originally the summer home of the Banning brothers, who owned the island, and now offers sweeping views of the Isthmus and Catalina Harbor.Sorry to say I'm at zero, despite sailing around Catalina several times as a mark in PSSA races and passing close to several of the others. And now that I'm boatless, I'm unlikely to increase that score any time soon.

And a shark eats his meal
Thats a moray
When it lives on the reef and has two sets of teeth, that's a moray. Motto: Don't bring an eel to a shark fight.Recently read this one inspired by abalone diving:
If your arm's in a crack
And your hand won't come back
