2010 SHTP videos

the under 60 crowd is DOMINATING the youtube category...

Harrier had a GoPro. get any good footage, General?

What about Dream Chaser? didn't he have a camera/ mount somewhere.

Anybody else make videos they haven't posted up yet?

Hecla? That would be neat video.

Is there a new link to Adam's video? All I get is a blocked message due to some kind of copyright problem. Thanks and Happy New Year, Al

You Tube Blockage :(

Hi Al..
For some reason YouTube blocked my video because of the song I used...I will try and repost it somewhere else and update the link. Any hints out there as to why the video got blocked? Or any tricks to get it unblocked? I know Ronnie, Paul, + Adrian used music in their pieces??????

Apparently, youtube had a falling out with Warner Music over the use of their copyrighted material. To keep it on youtube you'll have to find some music that isn't owned by Warner. There's also royalty-free music available on Creative Commons and some other sites...

Adrian

One of my favorite kite cam videos by an SSS TransPac vet featured a great sound track. He had to pull it and remove the song "Orinoco Flow" as I recall.

Anyway, the video is, to me at least, much more significant than the music. How about just posting it with the original audio track of the wind and water noises on the boat?

I Heart Open 60's

I want an Open 60 :) What was your best Noon to Noon run in Dogbark Al? What a cool boat..Thanks for the video...

Adam

Be careful what you wish for Adam! My best daily run (not truly noon to noon) in singlehanded mode was 276 miles. Your mileage may vary, in the one BOC she completed, owner and builder Kanga Birtles reported several runs over 300 miles. I love being on the boat and it takes care of me well. However, even though Dogbark is a great sea boat any comparison to the Open 60's of today is ludicrous. Al

Ronnie
I didn't start using the GoPro until a few days at sea. Have abt 15 mins or more on a CD that Lee put together for me. She is still honing it for an improved version, so it is still in Texas. I have a version of it here, but don't know how to put it out on this forum. Ha ha....I'm definitely (!) not under 6o.

Ken,

Youtube is pretty flexible. You can upload to there in many different file formats. When Lee edits the video down a bit, have her host it online somewhere or email to someone and we'll get it posted on youtube. myself or someone else will help you out. It's easy and fun.

Besides, i'm sure everyone wants to see some footage of the mighty Harrier at sea. I know i do!

You can start the over 80 youtube crowd, Ken!

SHTP Videos

OK, Ronnie

I'm headed west in 2 weeks and will stop at Lee's house in TX. I'll get her involved and we'll get something out. I made a complete movie some time ago of our race in "94, I think. That was with an 8 mm cam corder. If I were to do the race again, I'd put that GoPro on my head and get the first few hours and then off and on to get a complete race movie. I have chips for 40GB of recording...should be enuf.

SHTP Footage

Ken!!
I would also be happy to assist in the posting process...Life aboard Harrier in a Transpac?!!!! I would actually be willing to pay money to see some of that footage! :) Just from listening to you on Roll Call every morning and evening...it sounded like you always had a project going...whether you were changing your oil, doing your taxes, working on that scaled down model of the USS Hornet you store up in the V-berth, oh and also averaging 7-8 knots ALL THE TIME!! :) I'm very much looking forward to the footage :) Hope you are well...Are you Haha'ing it again this year?

P.S. What is this I'm hearing about a potential Mini Transat campaign in 2013? Kathe says hi :)
