2017 LatePac anyone headed out?

Too bad my phone was off when Chris texted me Tuesday night. Based on towboat horsepower, Rags' rate is only 35 cents/hour.

I think a number of SSSers would have gone to assist Chris. DM is very strong, for instance. 11 horsepower!!! The fact that Chris didn't ask for help shows he has that cussed self reliance gene.

This is why we need to do these qualifiers, to learn about additional gear we need on the boat, addition skills the skipper needs to work on before going the distance to Kauai. In this instance the lesson is to add a 12V USB charging device, by 11 PM Tuesday night the phone was dead!

Funny you should mention USB charging devices. You almost can't have too many of the damn things. I have seven outlets on board. Four of them are permanent members of my auxiliary switch panel and another three are aboard a plug in cigarette lighter dongle at the chart table. The plug dongle is cool because it has a little DC voltage readout which gives a hint as to battery SOC. Not as fancy as my Zantrex but I can see the numbers across the cabin. I have a cell phone, tablet, inreach tracker, bluetooth speaker, Iridium Go and a little hanging LED lamp all of which plug into the various USB ports. I leave the cell phone, tablet, Iridium Go and tracker plugged in all the time so I always have a full battery should something come up or go down.
