It should be okay - the red line is for hoisting the inflatable mermaid and she doesn't weigh much.

All the halyards are on the turning blocks with sheaves. The rings are on the vang, outhaul (both before the purchase), topper , and reef lines. Only the reef lines are high load.

So Bob, who makes a CF boom?

I'll wait to say who's building it until I see the finished product.

A CF mast (or composite rigging) costs 3 sec/mile. A CF boom is "free." (So says the boom's designer who is also on the PHRF committee.)

As Gollum would say, "sneeeeaky!"

Spiffy modern rudder is free too.

NorCal phrf does not seem to have listings up yet. O-34 Culebra has a carbon mast, I wanted to check on that.

Maybe Culebra is not racing these days.

Hey what ever happend to Open 50 "Truth" and her owner?

Truth is sitting on the hard at KKMI. I think Cal maritime is the owner, which means for sale. Alex chartered her for SHTP, didn't own her.

Hmm, that's interesting. Why is there a PHRF benefit to having a CF mast? Sorry, Jackie, for this thread hijack! How are you planning to attach gizmos to your boom? What are the advantages to a CF boom? Is it just stronger and lighter, or is there more to it? Why do I know so little about carbon fiber...?!? (Ignore that last question. It was rhetorical.)

A carbon mast and synthetic line standing rigging ("PBO") are lighter than their metal counterparts, and saving weight aloft has a much bigger benefit than weight saved in the hull -- because it improves righting moment, and thus upwind performance. So a lighter mast is faster, and thus penalized by the PHRF rating.

Stronger, lighter - and cooler. As to how to attach stuff I have no idea - I'll be finding out. Most production boats with CF masts have aluminum booms because they're cheaper to produce and the weight savings at boom level doesn't amount to much, so I mostly did it because I could and, well, it's Rags.
