Mooring at Angel Island Singlehanded

Angel Island is an oasis in the middle of a megalopolis.

I've been going to Ayala cove since the early 80's, but I've only moored at Angel a couple times singlehanded, and since I don't own any happy hookers, what I do isn't nearly as pretty or as quick.
Present and the previous boat have had slotted toe rails, so I tie up to the forward mooring at midships to prevent my stern from wandering too far away from my intended stern mooring, and then row out an old halyard to the stern buoy to double back. Once that is done I tie two bow lines, (one primary, one backup), either doubled or with a long enough bowline to reach from deck to the forward buoy.

I like going into the docks first to pay and to drop off the bikes before mooring.

How did you manage those camera pans singlehanded?

After watching this video, I may finally break down and pick up a happy hooker at Blue Pelican.

@Intermission, what you explained above, along with variations, is a very popular technique. I like that too because it's extremely predictable. One can manage it in nearly all conditions and it keeps the boat very secure.

I'm glad you're inspired to grab a happy hooker! There's a link in the video description for Amazon if you're interested

I used an Insta360 X5 camera mounted amidships. Since it records in 360 degrees, I can pan the camera in post production editing
