DAYDREAMER and BobJ are correct, although a better word might be reducing friction rather than chafe. School is still out on SMART SHOES whether converting to 2 part jib sheets when the breeze is up is a good look: the trade-off for halving the strain on the jib sheet is pulling twice as much line. Time will tell.

The large brass press ring reduces friction as the slippery dyneema core passing through the jib clew enjoys turning a larger diameter. Hanging blocks on the clew would just add more weight and clutter.

Surely someone can tell us what this is being moved down the road at Kaneohe, HI, circa 1982.

There's a lot of pretty 110's. But IMO Annie Lewis's SILVER SURFER, above, is the most beautiful! And she does all her own maintenance while living/teaching in Fresno. And yes, the upside down hull in Kaneohe is a new 110 back in 1982..being transported to her maiden launching at Kaneohe YC...

There's a 60 foot 110 moored and sailing out of Bainbridge Island, Washington...anyone guess either one of her names?

Does anyone know what happened to the 110 keel that’s we hauled back from KYC to the mainland? We heard a new 110 was going to be built with it, but I haven’t been staying upto speed on it since Mark and I help offload it from Mas! trailer.

Hi Ian. The Kaneohe keel brought back on MAS! trailer was transported to Port Townsend where it has been hung from a new 110 being completed for the PNW Fleet 19 fleet headquartered at Bainbridge Island. Here's the boat and keel in a recent photo: Is it true two people lifted the keel on/off the trailer?

Yeah mark and I picked it up off the trailer in Richmond with the Moore still on the trailer. Hindsight we should have launch mas and used the hoist to lift the keel.

Who does one contact for more information?

You can me at 8threeone-475-zero2seven8. Both boats are plywood. PEACH's hull # is 655 and MIRACLES is #221. Most of the older boats have been rebuilt, and this is the case with MIRACLEs. PEACH spent a very long time (maybe 40 years ?) living in a dry garage up in the Delta. Both of them are minimum weight or close to it ( MIRACLES 910 lb, PEACH 911 lb.) Sail availability and condition unknown. These boats were loaners for the East Coast contingent at the recent Nationals who brought their own sails packed as golf clubs. You would do yourself a favor to visit IYC, view PEACH and MIRACLES, and talk with Milly, who knows all.

I am guessing that this is a 410, or a 510. I did not know there were any of these on the west coast- there are several on the east coast. I will ask my 110 friends on Bainbridge Island what they know about it. The 110 is the smallest of the series, after which there is the 210, 310, 410, and 510. There was a design for a 1010, commissioned by the race car driver Briggs Cunningham, but it was never built. Very cool Pic !

You and Mark blew me away picking up the keel like that ! I had ramps, come-a-longs- all kinds of stiff that would have made it take longer, but probably not hurt your backs. I can send you a pic of the new 110 that it went to, up at Port Townsend. It is really sweet ! Nice to hear from you !!!!!

I sent this pic to sailing friends on Bainbridge Island. I am very curious about it.

What pic, Milly? If you mean SLIVER aka FRANCIS LEE, she was featured in Wooden Boat 252, Sept./Oct, 2016. I can probably tell you more about the boat..I've been aboard SLIVER with owner Kim Bottles and designer Bob Perry. Kim said SLIVER was influenced by Hunt's 110's and 210's, L.Francis Herreshoff's ROCINANTE, Alex Irving's SPARKLE, and especially Bill Garden's 60' OCEANUS. All these boats were double-enders. Bob Perry also favored double-enders.
