Sailing Music

The Mermaid:

Those are some fine songs, David. When you and I did the doublehanded Farallones together on Temerity I don't recall any music. Just periodic curses and "WHOA!" from you as we surfed back toward the gate.

Tender is the Night. Jackson Browne. And you haven't offered any revealing preferences.

A while back I started a list of "boat songs" for that time when I might put a CD together. No one does that anyone, do they? It's a bit eclectic. Here are some:

River – Joni Mitchell
Anna Kendrick - Cups (Pitch Perfect's "When I'm Gone")
Ylvis - Trucker's Hitch (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUHgGK-tImY)
Put a Sail on It - Clay Aiken
Sloop John B - Beach Boys
Illusion and Dream - Poets of the Fall
Freedom calling - Colcannon
Music on the wind - Suzy Bogguss
One More Morning - Steve Winwood
The Water - Johnny Flynn and and Laura Marling
Cool Change - Little River Band
If I had a Boat- Lyle Lovett
Southern Cross- Crosby, Stills and Nash
Southern Breeze- Isley Brothers
Mexico- James Taylor
Lovely Cruise -- Jimmy Buffett
Soul of a Sailor - Kenny Chesney
Single Handed Sailor - Dire Straits
Sailin' Shoes - Little Feat
Sail Away - Randy Newman
Northwest Passage - Stan Rogers
Vahevala - Loggins and Messina
Sailing - Christopher Cross
Boats - Kenny Chesney
Sail On- The Commodores
Sittin' (On the Dock of The Bay)- Otis Redding

I generally play Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" on the way out and "Victory at Sea" upon arrival! In between, mostly Bluegrass....

As is appropriate for a champion.

I hear you will join us in Hanalei Bay, Sir. I can't say how well the oven works in the house on Weke Road, but I'll do my best. Will Lee be joining us?

I'm planning on it. Lee and her kids will be there. We won't have a house on Weke road; but same one we had last time (called the Bird House) about halfway up toward the main Hanalei intersection. Be good to see many for the last time, most likely....
