SHTP 2010 Roll Call, Communications Plan posted

Tiger Beetle will be on the air at 1800, 4021.0 USB and VHF 71 - for that matter, the radios are already turned on and tuned in.

Currently I'm removing the mainsail for minor repairs to the luff at the second reef grommet - might have had a problem tensioning the sail properly and pulled some of the material clear of the antal slug / luff tape. Rats! - at least it's a straightforward repair.

Thanks to all for the SSB check yesterday. What a relief to hear recognizable voices coming out of that big black box! Thanks especially to John and Rob for their advice and analysis.

Good luck AJ with your recalcitrant equipment.

If you are renting a satphone and I don't have your phone number yet, please bring it on Wednesday night (or e-mail me). The contact sheets are done but you can fill in any missing numbers at the meeting.

Yes, you'll get your skipper binders on Wednesday night! They're cool . . .

My GPS says my DTF is 2127 miles. Shit, I want it to read 1060 so I can break into those half-way gifts! I don't care if it's 0300, I'm jumping in baby!

Tryon (ssb guro and master of all good stories!) will be going one-on-one with the IC-m600 Tuesday.

AJ

Bad karma AJ. The next time you check DTF it will say 2,134. You will NEVER get to break into the goodies . . .

muwahahahahahah!

Gary "Pakele" Gould is in from Oxnard. He's on Gate 10 at Marina Village and he's amped.

I did a radio check with Gordon West in southern CA this afternoon on 8.185 MHz, he said I was sounding good. When I complained that 400 miles was about where I lost contact with most of the fleet in 2008, he said that is about the most one can expect from the 8 MHz band in the daytime, and 4 MHz is much less. FYI...

Does anybody have different experience? --Jeff / Hecla
