Where is Point Stuart?

Of course, by the time we arrived out there, Carliane had jumpstarted her own engine. Yup. Preparation for the 2016 race requires a sailor to be self sufficient. Lock your expensive automobiles, everybody ;-)

That wasn't jump-starting, that was hot-wiring. I think they teach that stuff at the HMBYC.

Ha. It was done by using a quarter. This is the best trick I ever learned from a diesel class taught by Hans at List Marine in Sausalito. Does anyone else know about it? It might only work on a Yanmar because of the starter placement, but if you have a hand crank, then you should not need the quarter.

As to my hardy sailor friends at HMBYC, they are sooo tame compared to the rough streets of the Gulf Coast where I grew up. But I'll have you know that I have never hot-wired a car because before I was young enough to drive, I used to go joy riding in those three-wheelers that are parked in the open carports of all those retiree homes in Florida. I'd ditch them later, unharmed, but pretty quickly had serious regrets about doing that to people, and never stole another thing since. Though I continued to have a misbegotten youth in many other ways, I have been making amends ever since...so do not fear. If your car disappears one day, it wasn't me ;-)
