New Boat 4 Tchoup

Stephen,
Thank you for all the pictures. Please keep them coming. This is SO much fun to watch, and you make it look so easy. Maybe others will be inspired.
Question: What are the challenges around temperature in your build space?

What he said. Maybe you will hold a holiday open house? If you hold it we would come. I'll even bring eggnog and nutmeg!

Open house is a fun idea.
Tom, just the usual epoxy cure time monitoring. I bought that thermo/hygrometer for the other shop which is very dank and I was running a dehumidifier.
I could dry fit and remeasure forever but at some point...

Centerboard trunk and aft stringers are glued in.
Happy Holidays.

I did a little test of 6 oz fiberglass tape versus 4.4 oz biax carbon. A blindfolded team of composite specialists deemed the carbon stiffer!

Interesting feature is the oar locker hatch in the transom.

This is a Concept 2 sculling oar I got at the consignment shop and will act as a reasonable sweep for the limited rowing I plan to do as a sailboat.
But I'll want two oars for the Missouri!
Any scullers out there have some old inventory?

I finally feel I have enough structure to get in the boat and work without cracking glue joints. The deepest recesses of the center board trunk bottom are really hard to reach. I cut up the temporary frames to make temporary settees and if feels solid.

Also, sorted out some wifi so now have access to my how-to videos. I'm happy to say my lead pour is far in the past. But Leo remains an inspiration.

This was a bit tricky.
In order to single point launch the boat I had to build in the structure to support the pad eyes.
I ran this by the designer and he didn't seem to hate it.

Had to build a plug for the cockpit floor.

Ten layers of biax and two layers of uni, it was a real chore to lay that up inside out.
You can see it, or you can reach it.
