SHTP 2016 interest thread

What's the entry fee going to be? Any other associated fees, like tracking devices? Just curious, is all....

Like they say on Facebook, "It's complicated." If my math is right, it's $750 plus $160 for the tracker rental (one way). Add $100 for non-SSS members (but recidivists used to be exempt from that).

From the 2016 Race Rules and Conditions:

"2.02 The entry fee schedule is as follows:

[a] If received by the Race Committee on or before the dates shown, the entry fees shall be:
● $100 Interest in doing the SHTP. Due Jan 1. Not refundable.
● $650 Infrastructure support fee. Due Feb 28. Refund of $500 after April 1.
● $400 Sponsored entry fee. Due Feb 28. Refund of $300 after April 1.
● $100 Non-member fee. Due Feb 28. Refundable if withdrawing.
● $160 Tracker rental fee for the race to Kauai. Due Feb. 28. Nonrefundable after April 1.
● $190 Tracker rental fee for the return trip to San Francisco. Unit due back to SF by Sept 1. Due Feb 28. Nonrefundable after May 1.
● Private Tracker Data late fee will be assessed if the required tracker data (see the 2016 Communication Plan) is not received by June 15, 2016: Fee is $50.

If Infrastructure fee is received by the Race committee after February 28, 2016 an additional $100 shall be added to each fee, except sponsored entrants. An additional $300 shall be added for sponsored entrants.
[c] All fees must be received by the Race Committee by May 1, 2016."

The way I read it the fees and entry are due by February 28 2016.

After that it will cost extra, with no entries accepted after May 1, 2016.

Greetings, Somewhere on this thread I believe Mike stated he had an Allied XL2 and "would be good for it" I could not find mention of this in any text and would like to get in touch with Mike. Any help or direction on my query would be appreciated.

An Allied XL2 is mentioned on this thread, page 6, post #55, 11/06/2015.

New YouTube video of SHTP qualifying sail

Happy 2016 with 19 boats who have so far expressed interest in SHTP!

I recently posted a YouTube video I shot during my 429.5 NM qualifier that I completed on October 26-29. Thanks to West Marine for the loan of the GoPro equipment, and for the video production help from our video editor, Tim Clark. Enjoy!

Actually that Allied XL2 is mine. it was the cover boat on the August 1973 "Yachting" magazine, back when it was owned by Shelby Friedrichs, and was frequently skippered by his son, Buddy Friedrichs, who was a gold medal winner in Dragons, in the Olympics back in that era. it is a beautiful keel/centerboard 22000 pound, Sparkman and Stevens design influenced by the CCA rule, which favored yawls.

It looks like I won't be able to ship my PS31 home since the shippers require a trailer. I unfortunately dont have the time in my schedule to sail back. I'm thinking of leaving it there on the hard till next year when I can return and sail it home unless I can find a competent crew to bring it back for me ( at a reasonable cost ). Thoughts, suggestions anyone?
Cheers, Mike
