The Cruise Out Is Back

Philpott

Cal 2-27 Dura Mater
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, due to popular demand and gentle arm twisting by the Commodore, there will be a Cruise Out this year.
Destination: TBD but it will not require Daniel Wiley to pay an exhorbitant slip fee. No. No. No.
It will not be in Tomales Bay because the Commodore says that is too far away. I disagree but he is the Commodore.
There will be dorky prizes for esoteric reasons.
Hopefully there will be wind. Maybe there will be fog (remember that year? that was dense!). Stay tuned and tell all of your friends or invite people you meet at the grocery store.
Details to follow.

It's been mentioned maybe Sequoia (Redwood City) and maybe Petaluma. Where would you like to see us gather and share sea stories?
Never been to Petaluma. Redwood City is a couple miles from my boat. Tough choices Jim.......Petaluma for the thrill I suppose.

Petaluma. I cruised up there two years ago and loved it.

I'm not sure what Daniel considers exorbitant. When Surprise! docked there it was either $32, $34 or $35. Of course I put $33 in the envelope!

Due to the distance and the need to time the tides, a two-nighter would make the most sense. The shallowest part is the entrance to the Petaluma River from San Pablo Bay. But once in the river it's lovely, with some nice sailing. I was singlehanded but with an eye on the chartplotter I had no problems.

When we went to Sequoia last time Daniel had to get a slip in the Marina, cost him $75 while we all got the yacht club slips.

The destination isn't as important as the celebration, the camaraderie, the feasting, the story telling. A raft-up at Angel, Aquatic or Clipper could fill the bill.
